Noodles

Noodles have a long history when it comes to Chinese staple food. They are very popular and cooked in a variety of ways in a variety of dishes. Noodles are believed to make their first appearance during the East Han Dynasty in China. But it was during the Sun Dynasty that is become increasingly popular. Noodles are often served in a fried form or with soups depending upon their type. There are two types of noodles- dry and fresh. Noodles are easy to cook and can be combined with different ingredients to prepare various dishes.

Rice

Rice is a significant Chinese staple food. China has been one of the largest producers of rice. Due to favorable weather conditions and soil, China is a major cultivator of rice in the world. Rice is used for almost all the meals here. It is also used in preparing vinegar, beers, and wines. In Chinese food, rice is mostly used in the boiled or steamed form.

Dumpling

Dumpling is a dynamic dish in Chinese food. The outer layer is prepared by tenderly mixing flour and water. The filling is the fun part that comes in a variety of ways. It can be any meat, seafood, mushroom, different kinds of vegetables, and also fruits. Traditionally, dumplings are angular, meniscus, or ingot in shape. But modern dumplings are shaped like flowers, birds, and other innovative ways as well.

Tofu

Tofu is like a cheesecake in terms of consistency that is prepared from soymilk. It is a good source of protein, iron, calcium, and other important nutrients. It is added in stir-fried dishes, salads, and also soups. As individual ingredient tofu does not have any flavor or fragrance of its own. But, it can activity absorb different flavors and turn delicious. Tofus are mainly of two types- fresh tofu and processed tofu. The previous ones are directly prepared from soymilk, while the latter is the processed form of fresh tofu.

Barley

There are several benefits to have barley. But it demands a lot of care and attention during the stages of its growth, as it is very tender in nature. Barely is favorable for people with high cholesterol and blood sugar. It has soluble fibers and low-fat content.

Chinese Wonton

Traditionally Chinese wonton was also known as ‘Hun Dun’ because of its sealed shape that has no openings. The wonton is wrapped with a thin and soft layer, fresh fillings, and dipped in clear soup. The soup is also served separately in some cases.

Rice Noodles

Rice noodles are an integral part of Chinese food. Unlike other noodles, they are to be soaked in warm water before use. It is so because rice noodles need more time to soften properly, although they appear thin in size and transparent in texture. They are healthy and can be served with soups, spring rolls, salads, etc.

Wheat

People in China are dependent on wheat to produce a lot of their food. Flour-based food of all kinds like, bread, noodles, steamed buns, dumplings, etc. have no existence without wheat. Hence, the grain is an essential Chinese staple food.
