A lucky member of the family would get the Christmas surprise inside the pudding. They start eating dessert mostly after midnight on Christmas. Since the Sung Dynasty, people in China perfected the making of dumplings. The shape of the dumplings may be crescent or round. You can fry or boil the dumplings. Health concerns people boil the dumplings rather than making them in the frypan. Vegetarian and non-vegetarian both can eat dumplings as you can add meat or vegetable fillings inside. If you want sweet dumpling, you can add the soft mixture, and if you wish to the savory taste of the meatballs, you can add the feelings accordingly. You can add chicken, fish, beef, shrimp, mutton, or pork for meat dumpling feelings. Use vegetables like scallion, cabbage, garlic, leek, and chives in the vegetarian dumpling feeling.

Jiaozi: traditional Chinese Dish

Jiaozi dumplings are crescent in shape, with edges pleated. You can use either meat or vegetable filling in Jiaozi. Occasionally, people twist this recipe with winter melon or shrimp. Mix all the ingredients that are likely to be added in the fillings, water dough. Water dough is a little thicker than wrapper of the wonton. Mostly Jiaozi is boiled, but some people panfry these dumplings.

Potstickers:

People first pan fry the bottom of potstickers, and then they boil the dumplings. At the time of serving, people flip the meatballs so that the fried bottom side comes up, and the pellets look lovely.

Siu Mai:

Siu Mai dumplings have a mild taste and mostly in basket or cup shape. On the top, the filling will stick out and looks nice also. Siu Mai dumplings are very puffy and soft. Chinese people fill the Siu Mai with pork filling as it is a traditional way. However, prawns and shrimp felling are also famous. Siu Mai should be served in round shape always. You can use round-shaped wrappers. You can even wonton wrappers of a square shape, but you have to cut than in an oval shape before using.

Shanghai Steamed Buns

When you want to eat seafood and dumplings both together, you can try Shanghai Steamed Buns. Seafood is filled in the Shanghai dumplings. They are juicy as well.
